Emer Barry
Emer Barry has an honours degree in Music and Italian and holds a Masters in Music Performance from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
She has performed extensively throughout Ireland as a soloist on both the concert platform and as guest soprano with choral societies and orchestras. She is a regular soloist at the National Concert Hall and has performed as guest soprano with leading Irish composer and singer Liam Lawton. Operatic roles include Fulvia in Rossini's La Pietra del Paragone, Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci with Wonderland Productions Ltd, Susanna in La Nozze di Figaro, Mozart and First Lady 'The Magic Flute' with Glasthule Opera 2011. She also played the female lead of Serpina in Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona which toured the north of Italy in July 2009 under the direction of Opera Theatre Company's Annalise Miskimmon.
Emer has been the recipient of many bursaries and prizes including the John Mc Cormack and Oliver O'Brien bursaries for singing from the John Mc Cormack society of Ireland, the Stevenson Award for Overall Vocal Winner at the Ballymena Music Festival and the RTE Lyric fm bursary for most promising singer at the Sligo Feis Ceoil 2007.
Currently she is studying with tenor Julian Hubbard and repetiteur Aoife O'Sullivan and will partake in coaching with the esteemed staff of ENO Opera Works this year in London. She is also a teacher in Waltons School of Music Dublin where she runs the Opera Workshop and gives individual singing lessons.
