Emer Barry has an Honours degree in Music and Italian and a Masters in Music Performance from DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. She has studied in London with English National Opera and the National Opera Studio.
After an early start in the world of Opera, Emer found her true calling in the world of Classical Crossover. Her YouTube channel boasts an impressive 5 million views across the streaming platform and she has featured on many recordings globally. In 2014 she was chosen as the voice of Disney’s ad campaign singing a song written by renowned Irish composer Liam Lawton. She is also a featured soloist on Liam Lawtons album ‘Catholic Irish Classics’. Most recently, her voice can be heard on the Video Game ‘Total War: Warhammer 3’, released in 2022.
In March 2019, Emer toured the United States of America with Songs of Ireland, a show put together by Columbia Artists Management, USA. She joined the RTE Concert Orchestra in May 2019 as guest soloist for RTE Lyric fms ‘The Full Score’ performing pieces by Ennio Morricone and John Williams. In 2020 she was invited to perform alongside Celine Byrne and the National Symphony Orchestra on the national TV station RTE One programme ‘Shine’. She has headlined shows at Boyle Arts Festival and the National Concert Hall and played the role of Audrey Hepburn in a sold-out show about the icons life in the National Concert Hall (JFR) in 2019.
Emer is also a founding member of award winning Celtic Classical group Affiniti (Harp, Violin and Soprano) who have completed tours of the USA from December 2014 – 2019 and is set to return again in 2022. As a group they have performed at Steinway Hall, New York and The Ross Perot Science Museum, Dallas and have been described by The Boston Globe as ‘full of soul, sass and sophistication as well as exquisite technique’.Their debut album ‘Struck by Affiniti’ was a featured album on Ireland’s Classical Music Station RTE Lyric fm.
Emer performs regularly as a soloist with The Army Band including an appearance as soloist at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby in the Curragh 2016. In 2021 she was awarded The Agility Award by the Arts Council of Ireland to develop new compositions. 2017 saw the release of her debut album Storyteller and she is currently recording her second album, which will include some of her original music and will accompanied by the Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra. This is set for release in 2023.
